This
recently built structure serves as an outdoor classroom for hundreds of school
children, and a site for many events at the Butterfly Park. It is also an
inviting place for daily visitors to enjoy the refreshing shade. 20' wide
by 40' long it has a 30' X 40' wooden deck and wheelchair ramp. Native Sabal
Palm leaves thatch the roof over a structure of heavy treated timbers. Life
expectancy is 30+ years, with occasional repairs to thatching after major
storms.
A
$20,000 gift is needed
to name the Palapa.
