The Gala Committee members include: Luisa Ruiz, coordinator, Estella Saenz, Couquis Cerda, Nora Shah, Lucy Sisniega, Lindslee Brunson, Sandra Vecchio, Gail Ramirez, Yoli Guerra, Adela de la Garza, Veronica Lizcano.

Liason to the Board of Advisors is Virginia Townsend.

The Mission Rotary Club members will also be assisting with the event again this year, as will the members of Mission Police Department’s auxiliary, Support the Blue.

Wings Across the Border – 2008
This exciting event, featuring both live and silent auctions, dancing to live music, as well as the metamorphosis of the Monarch and Queen (butterflies) for 2008, will be dedicated to the 100th birthday of the City of Mission. Local community leaders will compete for the honor of being the Monarch and Queen of this year’s Wings Across the Border, with the winners receiving their wings so they can reign over the event. The runners-up will also receive wings and become Soldiers, another local butterfly that mimics the Monarch. It will be an evening of great fun and celebration.

2007 Gala Queen, Linda Castenana, and Monarch, Fred Ramirez have been challenged. Lucy Sisniega will try to win Linda's wings at the 2008 Gala, and Ruben Plata will try to win Fred's. The man and woman who raise the most money for the Butterfly Park by the Gala will win.
