 THE STATE BUTTERFLY OF ARIZONA

SEABA is a local chapter of the North American Butterfly Association (NABA), a federally listed tax exempt charitable organization.  Our area covers most of Pima, Santa Cruz, Cochise and southern Graham Counties ( the area covered by postal zip codes 856-- and 857-- ) but as this is one of the prime butterfly spots in the country we have members from all over.  Both SEABA and NABA are non-profit organizations formed to promote non-consumptive, recreational butterflying and to increase enjoyment, knowledge and conservation of butterflies including butterfly gardening, identification, photography and outreach to to local schools and the public.

Whether you're new to butterflies or an expert, we're a relaxed group of fun-loving butterfly enthusiasts.  Our members have all levels of knowledge and experience from beginners to advanced so you don't have to be an expert to join in the fun!

ALL SEABA ACTIVITIES ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!!

New SEABA Checklist

Thanks to the efforts of Jeff Babson, SEABA now has a new butterfly checklist for southeastern Arizona, covering the same area as that in Bailowitz and Brock, BUTTERFLIES OF SOUTHEASTERN ARIZONA (1991).  The boundaries are the Gila River to the north, the Baboquivari and Quinlan Mountains (inclusive) to the west, the New Mexico border to the east and the Mexico border to the south.  For each species on the checklist, common name, scientific name, abundance and flight period are given.  The checklists are printed on heavy stock that can be tri-folded to fit in the pocket or field guide.

We will take orders for bundles of 30 or more at the introductory wholesale price of $.50 each plus postage and handling.  Hopefully all the usual retail outlets will soon be carrying these. SEABA will not sell amounts of under 30 copies except at meetings and on field trips for $1.00.  Field trip participants who make the voluntary donation of $5.00 will receive a checklist free.

For bundles of 30 or more only – contact Libby Sullivan, LEESU47@aol.com / 520-742-0071.

As a non-profit organization our officers are all volunteers.  We need more volunteers to help the hard working people who have made us so successful in such a short period of time.  Click on officers to contact them - and to see if there is something you can do help out - like working at the Mason Audubon Center Butterfly Garden, manning informational tables at different events, leading Field Trips, giving programs at our meetings, etc.  We have started a program of special field trip opportunities for volunteers only - in June we went to the White Mountains with Jim Brock.
