Butterflies of White Lake, Warren County, New Jersey


DIRECTIONS:Take I-80 to Exit 12, Route 521. Go north on Route 521 for about 5 miles to a stop sign at Route 94. Route 521 continues north by turning left and making a sharp right at the light. Continue on Route 521 for another 3 miles until you come to White Lake WMA on the right. Park in the parking lot. To reach another access point, turn left upon exiting the WMA and head south on Route 521. At the next intersection with Spring Valley Road (CR 659) turn left. After about 1/2 mile there will be a small unmarked parking area on the left below the level of the paved road. From the parking area take the woods road north towards the lake. Take the first major path on the right and then after the small foot bridge bear to the left towards the lake.

HABITAT:Fields and limestone woodland.
