Butterflies of Swartswood State Park, Sussex County, New Jersey


DIRECTIONS: From Exit 25 on I-80, take Route 206 north to Newton. Turn left on to Route 519 just north of the center of town. Go 0.4 miles to and turn left onto Route 622, Swartswood Road. Go west for 4.5 miles and turn left onto Swartswood East Side Road. After driving half a mile turn right into the park.

HABITAT: Limestone woods surrounding a lake.

Numbers refer to months. For example, the first species, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, is uncommon to common from May through September.
