Butterflies of Alachua County, Florida
by Marc C. Minno, PhD

Note: Species with * are possibly or only occasionally present.

Image: Click on the name of a butterfly for a photo, where available, of that species. In addition, many of the butterflies are linked to Florida Wildflowers and Butterflies, an excellent website developed and maintained by the Florida Museum of Natural History with equally excellent online field guide of selected Florida butterflies. Text and photos by Jaret Daniels, PhD.  Also, some of the butterflies are linked to Butterflies and Moths of North America (* see below), another excellent butterfly site. Each such link provides images, identification aids, and natural history of the indicated butterfly. To use the Butterflies and Moths site, once into the site choose the "Image Gallery" selection and enter the common name or scientific name of the butterfly of interest. Butterflies and Moths can also be used to help identify unknown butterflies. Choose the "Identify" selection for this purpose.

Use your browser "print" function to obtain a field copy of the following list of butterflies.
