The meeting was called to order by President Pat Thomas. The business part of the meeting was abbreviated so that more time could be given to native author and nature phenologist, Larry Weber. Larry was introduced at 6:42 and until 8:00 held our attention with wonderful slides prefaced with whimsical anecdotes and descriptions of various northern butterflies. Each butterfly was shown flaunting its own unique markings and colors. This was a wonderful, educational presentation to a captivated and inquisitive audience! Larry's book "Butterflies of the North Woods," was on display among other books. We voted on a name for our Chapter. As was alluded by the title of the minutes, Northern Crescents was accepted by majority vote. Other choices were Pearly-eye and Lake Superior Chapter. Larry was instrumental in recommending possible choices. Our next meeting will convene on March 16th, with Naturalist Dave Benson speaking on guidebooks and binoculars. We were asked if anyone was interested in three evening classes on identification of local butterflies with Larry Weber and Pat Thomas. Interest was high. Watch for upcoming classes in May. The meeting concluded at 8:15 p.m. Interim Secretary Barb Ellingson
