Massachusetts Butterfly Club
You can become a Massachusetts Butterfly Club (MBC) member in one of two ways. The best method if you are a Massachusetts resident is by joining the North American Butterfly Association (NABA). Here’s a link to the NABA membership site, where you can renew either on-line or the old-fashioned way.
NABA-MBC membership includes the following:
Field trips are offered throughout the season. Our Fall and Spring members' meetings feature well-known speakers. Furthermore, we have compiled a library of slides for most of the Massachusetts butterflies (including all stages for some species). These materials are available for club members to use. Please contact our President for the use of the slides.
If you are not a Massachusetts resident, or you do not wish to be a NABA member, you may join the Massachusetts Butterfly Club without joining NABA. We call this an "MBC-only" membership. MBC-only members receive Massachusetts Butterflies twice a year, a free checklist, and have the other benefits of MBC membership, but do not receive the NABA magazines. To become a MBC-only member, send a check for $15 along with your name, address, and email address to Barbara Volkle.
We have over 140 NABA-MBC members covering the spectrum from novices to prominent lepidopterists. Many members lead field trips and present programs for all ages on butterfly identification and behavior and butterfly gardening. Go to our field trips webpage for a list of field trips and other activities. Please join us for an upcoming club activity -- beginners are welcome and encouraged! Do not hesitate to contact one of our club officers if you have any questions.
