The Red-Spotted Purple Limenitis arthemis by Ken Fraser
These are pictures of a Red Spotted Purple that I took last June in our back yard. We watched as the female laid eggs on a willow tree, after which Carol carefully collected a couple of eggs. We "grew" them through all the stages and released the butterflies when they hatched. These pictures were taken June 2010 using a Nikon D90 with a Nikkor 105 Macro. Un-retouched, except for some cropping. - Ken Fraser
