The Second Florida Regional NABA Meeting! Our natural areas of central Florida are quickly becoming recognized as having the highest diversity of butterflies in the state. Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park has an amazing 79 species recorded. (Read about this park in the Spring 2003 issue of American Butterflies.) The month of September is the best time of year to see some of the rarer butterflies found in central Florida. Join us for field trips to natural areas and to one of the most amazing butterfly gardens in the state. Field trips for beginners and experts alike! When: September 25 - 27, 2009 Where: Lake Wales, Florida Hosts: NABA National and the Florida Chapters of NABA. Field Trips: There will be a pre-meeting field trip on Friday to Sue Arnold's Butterfly Haven and Highlands Hammock State Park. (No lunch included.) Saturday and Sunday field trips will alternate between Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park and Bull Creek Wildlife Management Area. (Lunch included.) Cost: $120 registration fee ($150 for non-NABA members which includes NABA membership). The registration fee includes: the Friday evening reception; field trips and programs, box lunches on Saturday and Sunday; drinks and snacks.
